Summary: While we may long for a picture-perfect Christmas, the story of King Herod commanding the death of the Holy Innocents of Bethlehem reminds us that Jesus came to save our world, not the perfect world of a Christmas card. This is good news for those of us who are inescapably attuned to the realities of our world marred by sin, death, and Satan, but this also means we must confront within ourselves our capacity to comply with or even become the Herods of this world. Regardless, we take hope in the fact that Jesus came to save us nevertheless.
